new york techno producer shawn o sullivan makes his return to l.i.e.s. under his vapauteen moniker. after an amazing release on avian as 400ppm and a collaborative effort on the corner with beau wanzer, here we get o sullivan turning down the bpms and slowly crushing everything in sight. the a-side provides three tracks of unforgiving modular slowcore beat electronics which trudge their way to the grave, while the b-side is strictly about power electronics and harsh tone work outs. sure to piss off someone on the internet or better yet, in real life.

vanessa (a dreamer) is the second 12 inch from brooklyn-based artist divvorce on fifth wall, the imprint he founded last february with hound scales. drawing influence from such pretentious sources as franz kafka, the early work of darren aronofsky, and a solitary walk through the streets of paris during fashion week, the ep consists of two compact slices of techno(?) and two remixes. first is the meandering, dreamlike *wander 7*, followed by the truculent but jubilant *roquentins release* and finishing with remixes by fellow fifth wall artists physical therapy and unklone.

the new single portends the mood of the ensuing album, a further foray into harris signature blend of house, modern classical, shoe-gaze and noise which is the artists most ambitious and accomplished work to date. as the sole dance floor moment on the lp, *you can always leave* picks up where harris cult hit *lostfound* left off, with vocals once again from danish vocalist gry bagien and the heartbreakingly august trumpet of no regular plays greg paulus. the remarkable terre thaemlitz delivers an epic 12 minute remix on the flip under his dj sprinkles guise which is sure to make this 12inch a sought after piece for house music s analog enthusiasts.

tusk off-shoot horn wax unite two kindred spirits that span house musics generations, emerging new yorker pixelife and legendary london pirate stalwart yusuf complement each others work with timeless grooves and serious respect to the source. as a result, both of these cuts are littered with analogue heaviness and acid funk. *filament in strata* wafts with big synth chords and mischievous 303 squiggles while *wardrum acid* lives up to its name in every way. proof there is still heaps of life in the old machines, these will resonate with all ages and tastes. limited hand-stamped hand-numbered 180 gram vinyl 12 inch.

just in time for this years festive celebrations, the imprint curated by merseyside edits maestro greg wilson returns with the tape-tapping talent of fingerman. real name gregg holmes, wilson first thought his fingerman pseudonym was inspired by a character from v for vendetta, the cult graphic novel by alan moore, but he was in fact so called after creating a weird stop motion video on a mobile phone about a shouting finger. thankfully his studio work is less peculiar: years of spinning techno in the mid-90s giving way more recently to an going love affair with funk, soul and disco nuggets.

system status (david rendal) caught our attention in 2012 with his self released pistachio ep. his production stood out to us instantly and his musicality shows through in his compositions. tusk wax, giles peterson & ashley beadle have all been paying attention to his work over the last few year and this ep was an opportunity for us to introduce another one of his tracks to the dance floor.

modularz label head developer returns to his label for a special full length ep > collections of time< focusing on a variety of styles from hard to deep that all work very well together in the club or the warehouse. the release is set as a 4 track ep on vinyl

for this release kurbits once again turns to the romanian artist faster aka laurentiu suciu. since fasters last release on kurbits in 2011, the romanian has established his position on the scene with gigs all over the world and quality releases on labels such as vinyl club and rora. on this release we see faster continiung and developing the deep and hypnotic sounds of previous releases. orchestra modificata is something as rare as a subtle big track. the pads sure speak the language of big room business, but in combination with the exquisite percussion work, the track takes us to exciting unexplored dimensions. on the flip we have daca vrei. its radiant mood and the laid back breakbeats, make it the perfect ingridient for those early morning sessions when a little pinch of sunshine is all you need to take the crowd to party heaven. we sincerely hope you ll have as much pleasure with these tracks as we a have. we ll be back soon with new and exciting rhythms.

a white label release limited to 300 units worldwide, pictures music and ghostly international present three remixes of dauwds *heat division*. featuring re-interpretations from dfas tim goldsworthy, ostguts nick höppner and dauwd himself, this release sheds new light on dauwds sophomore ep. goldsworthys experience producing the likes of unkle and the rapture is put to work on his remix of *heat divsion* adding a mercurial vocal hook and a unique ending to the track, while höppners work roots *and* firmly in the ubiquitous sound of berlin. dauwd rounds off the line-up with a different take on *silverse*, offering a version aimed squarely at the dancefloor.

124black is the new sub label from 124 recordings with the aim of promoting a darker, harder sound firmly rooted in the underground. all releases are strictly limited and available only on 10 inch translucent vinyl. first up is jacob b, rapidly gaining a lot of recognition for his deep and chunky club cuts, aptly demonstrated on >basement crowd< with solid drums, suspense filled strings, a spoken word vocal and a bassline that shows you exactly where the title of this track comes from. next is another 124 family member, liam geddes late night jam, >somebody in the house<. with its haunting stabs, groovy baseline and snare rolls, this a simple, yet very effective track that works equally as well in a small club or large warehouse! on the b-side, cecil returns to 124 with >bv< a track very much aimed at the dancefloor and replete with the producers signature deep stabs and chords, that work alongside a sub bassline that you feel rather than hear. a peak time track...

you dont have enough fingers on one hand to count the number of tadd mullinixs musical aliases. often does an artist want to explore disparate genres, and sometimes they try by releasing under various project names. rarely does this ever work, but its part of mullinixs growing legacy to consistently pull it off with tact, empathy and exuberance.

ma spaventi, a roman, now based in amsterdam, has been around for a minute, his trio r-a-g (with aroy dee and gijs poortman, a.k.a. gstring) has been recording refined, classicist house and techno on an all-analog kit since 2010. marked by tough drums, swirling pads, and a willingness to veer into pure, beatless ambient territory, their records are formally purist without scrimping on a sense of mystery. spaventis solo work so far has suggested that he may be the tough guy of the bunch.

dream states of lust and lucidity, slow to speaks latest reissue of house musics halcyon years comes courtesy of mood ii swing s visionary lem springsteen. originally released on the eightball sublabel empire state records in 1994, these excursionary landmarks saw springsteen bid farewell to his usual club-saturated exercises in queeny house euphoria for a hallucinatory breach into a secret realm of desire, where the whispers of a long-forgotten hunger meld with the floating synth-work of a true practitioner of the sacred art of club music. this is the soundtrack to the chill-out room of your unconsciouss kaleidoscopic sex dream, the sweet synth lines of springsteens ritual music still floating in your mind as you awake, alas, a little too soon. fear not: this dyonisian masterpiece is once more available thanks to the good spirits at dope jams, who remind you, *whatever the eye sees and covets, let the hand grasp!* not without asking (or paying) first, of course.

merkur releases its 6th ep which has a new, different approach compared to the last eps for which it has gained much praise during the past 5 years. the a-side >theme of mercury< was produced by label founder shingo suwa and akirahawks, who is known for the unique re-edit label house mannequin. the two of them mainly perform at homopatik in berlin. theme of mercury is a hypnotic track which was created with some broken old synth and sends your mind on an intergalactic odyssey, before diving into the deepest ocean on a journey to forget about space and time. the first track of the b-side is a remix from ducerey ada nexino aka yuji kondo, also known for his work under both his own name and as a half of steven porter on semantica. the remix fastens up the mix by repetitive pulsating synths, giving the beat an industrial modern atmosphere and letting the crowd heating up. the second track on the flip-side, called >barsoom<, is a solo production by shingo and completes the whole package. the functional work of a cut up 303 acid line with raw bass and a running groove creates an insistent and deeply pressured feeling. vinyl only, limited to 300 copies.

emmas third strike comes from stuff, one of frances most exciting new talents. to have fun and pretender are only two examples of his producer skills but they already give you an impression of his work!

optimo trax is an offshoot label of optimo music for tracks aimed at djs/dancefloors. yes, we know there are too many record labels already, but we felt an overriding desire to start another one as so much music that didnt seem quite right for optimo music (i.e. music that was specifically designed for dancing) kept coming our way. like the parent label, optimo trax will release music by new artists and excavate forgotten classics. luma is a project by dave clark from glasgow. dave had his first release as a member of state of flux in 1993 on t&b vinyl, the label twitch ran with his dj partner of that era, brainstorm. twitch and dave have continued to work together in various ways ever since. he has released records as truffle club, and as big ned on optimo music as well as working with twitch from 2005 - 2010 remixing a plethora of artists under the optimo (espacio) moniker before fatherhood necessitated him focusing on changing nappies rather than programming synths. dave has also recorded under various aliases for r&s, numbers, stuffrecords, dissident and wireblock. the twentieth anniversary of that first release seemed a fitting date for dave to unleash his monster new club music alter ego, luma on optimo trax. twitch thinks dave is the best producer in scotland and endlessly weeps into his gin and tonics about how unprolific dave is, so was ecstatic when the 4 killer tracks were delivered that make up this third optimo trax ep. these have been thoroughly road tested over the last few months at gigs around the world.

in a few short years laurel halo has demonstrated an unnerving ability to question established idioms in electronic music. throughout her body of work the michigan-born producer has expressed musical representations of merged dualities, spirituality in the inorganic, space in the claustrophobic, hope in dread. as a result there is something uncanny about laurel halos sound - the sonic templates may change, but the challenging of divides remains. laurel halo returns to lp format after two critically acclaimed eps with the driving, meditative *chance of rain*.

some may know pional as the john talabot collaborator responsible for stand tracks *destiny* and *so will be now* from his critically acclaimed *fin* album - an album frequently ranked as one of the best electronic records of 2012. his invisible/amenaza ep brings the groove and audio-perfectionism of these collaborations but adds an unsettling sense of paranoia which brings the music depth and tension - *invisible amenaza* translates as invisible threat. pionals influences arent really worn on his sleeve, but the forward thinking producer adds his influences of the zombies, roy ayres, and the police into a sound that manages to work on the dancefloor as well as the headphones.

chicago native jordan fields drops an awesome 4 track ep for those who love chicago sound. a tape called 1990 - this lost track was created 2 decades ago with heavy influence from mr fingers. the just an illusion re-work feels like the soundtrack to a break dance movie.

it is 2013 and in this release we hear a totally new approach to sampling. a vinyl release of two artists. fitz ambro$e (cape breton island) residing intokyo, & ohbliv of richmond, virginia(usa). fitz ambro$e sound has unique influence from 90s hip hop and 80s soul, he is also affiliated with cosmopolyphonic collective in tokyo. from the record archives of his father, ohbliv developed the charm of sampling. the record is a 14 track collage of beats from two uniquely talented artists who transcend their individual musical roots. as if competeing with each other both leave the remnants of sampling material, and the method in which they cut and chop is truely an interesting work.

the auf togo combination of clement cachot-coulom from the fabulous penetrators and sasa crnobrnja, one half of in flagranti are back with a follow up 12 inch for leng. once again they blend the warm analogue sounds with a dancefloor approach this time bringing in some vocals on old models that sit over a tight live drum beat and guitar work. waiting for beggi gets a balearic workout with more hazy guitars, percussion and a killer bassline.
